Entering the competition couldn’t be easier – we’ll set three themes, you submit your entries here at www.digitalslrphoto.com, and the winning photographer of each theme scoops a Nikon D5000 outfit. The judges will then choose their overall favourite image and the grand winner will jet off on a dream holiday with their fantastic Nikon D5000 outfit!

The winner of each monthly photo theme wins a Nikon D5000 with 18-55mm zoom, worth £800. The Nikon D5000 boasts 12.3-megapixels and can shoot HD video! As part of the prize package, the overall winner also wins a Nikon bundle worth over £750 made up of an AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR ED telezoom, as well as a Nikon GP-1 GPS system and the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote.

A Photo adventure Down Under!
Once the three monthly winners have been chosen, the judging panel will decide which of the three images is the overall winner. The reader whose image is judged to be the best of the best will win an amazing seven-day photo holiday for two to Australia’s Northern Territory, courtesy of Bridge & Wickers, where they’ll capture the beauty of the landscapes, wildlife and people with their Nikon kit, as well as gain expert tuition from top pro Steve Strike!

HOW TO ENTER!
The Worlds Apart competition runs over three issues with a different photo theme for each month.
The winner of each theme scoops a Nikon D5000 outfit and automatic entry to the final. Once all three themes have been completed, the judges will consider the merits of each of the three winning images and choose the overall winner, who scoops the fantastic main prize package of the photo holiday and additional Nikon kit. The competition is open to UK residents only. Only one image can be uploaded per entrant each month. Multiple entries into one theme means automatic disqualification. You don’t have to enter every theme. To upload images, you’ll need to be a member of www.digitalslrphoto.com. Membership is free, as is entry into the competition. Good luck!

Theme Two: Animal wildlife
For your next challenge, we want you to shoot a striking animal image. While the great outdoors may host some intriguing inhabitants, your back garden also accommodates many photogenic subjects – some more willing than others. We advise you to go armed with plenty of patience, a telezoom and/or a macro lens and let your creativity and talent run wild. 
To be in with a chance of winning a Nikon D5000 kit and the incredible opportunity to photograph Australia’s Northern Territory, 
your images have to be technically perfect! Badly composed or exposed photographs will not make the shortlist, nor will unsharp shots. Try using a tripod and a fast shutter speed to freeze movement. A wide aperture can help with this and provide the complementary shallow depth-of-field that works well at isolating your subject from the scene.

Theme Three: Environmental Portraits
Environmental portraits require you to set up a scene that shows a subject in the context of their lifestyle or work. So, rather than a 'straight' portrait, we're looking for you to be creative and interpret an aspect of your subject's life through your lens.
Whether it's capturing them enjoying one of their favourite hobbies, shooting them at their workplace or doing something completely different, we'll be looking for creativity on your part to produce an image that provides a visual insight into your subject's lifestyle.
