Sony unveils new DSLRs
Sony targets entry-level DSLR market with A290 and A390
Sony plans to release two new entry-level DSLRs this summer. The Alpha 290 and Alpha 390 are virtual identical cameras, with the only real difference being that the A390 has Live View.
No pricing details have been released yet, but the 14.2-megapixel DSLRs will most likely be pitched against Canon’s EOS 1000D a Nikon’s D3000.
Other features on the cameras include a 2.7inch LCD screen, internal SteadyShot technology and dual memory slots to hold SD/SDHC cards or Sony’s Memory Stick Pro storage device. Both cameras are incredibly lightweight, with the A390 weighing 549g and the A290 tipping the scales at just 508g (including Memory Stick Pro and battery). One more clever feature is the ability to hook the DSLRs up to an HD Ready TV screen via an HDMI cable, so users can review their images on the big screen.
